RTW Of all the early solo works, this one is the most neo-classical with its strings and waltzes and even touches of jazz. When I was a kid, I loved the lightweight absurdity of “The Infinity Waltz,” but as an adult perhaps the gloomy complexity of “Lines” and gorgeous simplicity of “Lisa’s Christening” have more impact. The BLRR version was massive and definitive back in 2006, but listening to this remaster now, I can hear how Chyekk’s delicate details benefit from the added clarity. Favorite track: Lisa's Christening.

A fresh new master of an album that's well over 30 years old.Chyekk China Doll was EK's first direct collaboration with violinist, composer and arranger extraordinaire Patrick Q. Wright and his production and engineering skills made this album possible. It was even recorded on his 8-Track home studio in London. Steve Stapleton also features on the tracks "Klazh,Tristurr" and "The Power,The Power." The awesome cover art is by Jesse Peper.

This was the LPDs' very first release. It's not a really an album in the traditional sense, and not as long as the other collections of early tracks that came out in 1981, but it's a great listen with a few rarities, including "O(ri)ffice," "Waiting for the Call/You 'n' Me," and "Frosty," all gloriously subversive but sweet-sounding indie pop tracks alongside weird noise like "It Rots Your Liver" and "The Chemical Playschool." RTW
